As the son of legendary R& B artist Luther Ingram, who
brought such classics as "Ain't that loving you (for more reasons than one)",
"Respect Yourself", and one of the biggest hits in the history of the music
industry, "If Loving You Is Wrong, (I Don't Want To Be Right...!)", to music
loving audiences worldwide, E. Luther Ingram (ELI) is looking to put his
own mark on history. It should come as no surprise that this offspring is
making a name for himself by discovering and developing new talent without
all the politics that go with it. Although around music throughout his childhood, athletics and a business major at Central State (Ohio) took ELI in another direction while his father toured around the world with artists such as Johnnie Taylor, Isaac Hayes, The Isley Brothers, and the Barkays just to name a few. It would be years later before he'd finally find his calling. He describes the artists that surround him as crafty yet unique, the producers as innovative and the tracks they create as groundbreaking. In the studio he uses his fathers' terminology when coming across that one song that when you hear it, you just know that's it, that's the one. He calls them "smash" hits, a term commonly used in the 70's soul movement. He is also working on a project that involves remixing and re-creating new versions of some of his fathers material for an upcoming film titled none other than, "If Loving You Is Wrong, (I Don't Want To Be Right...!)- The Movie". The movie will be coming soon! While on the rise as one of the hottest and newest faces in the industry, this St. Louis native wants to continue to carry on his fathers name. He says he's use to people introducing him as "Luther Ingram's son". "That's alright" he says,'cause it gets him in certain doors, but when going in those doors the bottom line is having a "smash" hit when you go! |
